If I have a server with a motherboard that can handle two Intel Xeon E5 2680 CPU, 128MB RAM and two Intel SSD 910, I wonder if there is any way to figure out how many visitors per second/clique server can handle simultaneously without crashing?
Do we need two pieces SSD 910 or is it okay with one?
How much broadband connection do I need for the above server to operate at the highest level of database management?
Is there any way to figure out?
There is no way to correctly predict server capacity without server itself and knowledge of exact software used.
In case of Micrrosoft software you can use Web Capacity Analysis Tool Version 5.2 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17275 to mimic Web users (IE 6 browser activity against website) and http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17275 to mimic SQL server database activity. Do some tests on current hardware and scale them proportionally according to hardware specs difference.
