I have the same graphics card/driver as OP, and I'm experiencing an issue with playing Minecraft. I'll bump this cause I'm sure other people are looking for help with this too. Did everything humanly possible and my issue still hasn't been resolved. Talked to Microsoft, Toshiba, and Intel tech support and nothing works.

Hi Sir Robert! Are there really no plans on releasing new drivers for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipsets for Windows 8? Since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 my graphics performance is very poor! I just need a control panel for my GPU to perform at its max capacity, because I really need to set the power from Balanced (which is default) to Maximum Performance to prevent my screen hanging for 3-5 seconds during "sudden high" of graphics, if you know what I mean, or could you just provide us an Intel Graphics Control panel for this problem to be solved? Thanks!

Hey Ryan! Have you tried installing the previously released driver for Windows 7 32/64-bit? It works for me!
Just download the zip file, extract it to a folder, then go to device manager, right click your display adapter and then click update driver, then choose from a list, etc., then click have disk, and browse for the Graphics folder in the files that you have extracted, then click ok, wait for the driver to be installed, and done! I hope it solves you problem for playing Minecraft.

Yes, you can get things like OpenGL 2.1 support for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset) working on Windows 8 simply by downgrading to the previous Windows 7 drivers!
The in-box drivers for Windows 8 Driver for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1) are version 8.15.10.2702, which only supports OpenGL 1.1 (checking with tools such as GLView). This means you can't play games like Minecraft or Angry Birds, even though you could play them under Windows 7.
The solution is to roll back to the latest Windows 7 drivers, version 8.15.10.2555.
To do this you need to modify the installation INF file to allow installation on Windows 8 and then use advanced reboot to allow Windows 8 to install the unsigned driver. See instructions at http://tachisalopex.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/windows-8-and-intel-graphics-driver.html TachisAlopex: Windows 8 and Intel graphics driver to patch the INF file, but I just used General - Advanced startup in the Windows 8 settings to load the unsigned driver.
Seeing as the Windows 7 drivers version 2555 work fine in Windows 8 with Open GL 2.1 support, I can't understand why the official version 2702 Windows 8 drivers removed it.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but we already have 2014 and I still can't find any official Windows 8 drivers for my 4500M graphics chip.
Will there be any official one or do I have to do it by Sly's way? Or am I just being too incompetent to find something?

Win8 drivers for your graphics controller are not available through Intel web site. Updated drivers are provided by your operating system developer via Microsoft Update.

okay, so for a computer illiterate person are you saying that you have not and are not planning on updating the graphics driver for windows 8? And if that is what you're saying, how do I get it updated through windows 8? Because I have done ALL the updates using windows update (so including the optional ones) and my graphics driver still has not been updated. So if I can't get an update through you or through windows, are all of you telling me to go out and buy a brand new computer so everything I want to do works properly?? If so, there's no way in hell I'm buying an Intel product again. Way to leave all your customers with this product high and dry.
