Intel HD Graphics 3000 version confusion

Hi,

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron N5110 with Intel HM67 Express Chipset and 2nd Generation Intel Core i5 (Sandy Bridge, i5-2410M) processor.

I want to download the latest version of Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver for Microsoft Windows 7 x64.

After some search-job I've founded these results:

— 8.15.10.2361, on official Dell Support Resource;

— 8.15.10.2622, on Intel Support Center, search parameters: Graphics + Laptop graphics controllers + Intel® HD Graphics + Windows 7 (64-bit)* + Drivers sorted by date;

— 8.15.10.2656, on Intel Support Center, search parameters: Graphics + Processor graphics + 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000 + Windows 7 (64-bit)* + Drivers sorted by date;

— 8.15.10.2696, via automatic Microsoft Update Channel.

This situation is a bit confusing me, I have the following questions:

1. What is the dufference between 2622 and 2656 builds? Is it only the difference between mobile and desktop platform?

2. Can I install driver for desktop platform to mobile one?

3. Why I can't find 2696 build on Intel's Official Support Resource? And why Microsoft Update suggests me this version?

I know, that Intel suggests to use drivers, supplied by laptop manufacture, in my case — Dell, but they don't update such drivers for a long time, while Intel releases their version each 2…4 month with bug fixes and performance improvements.

Thanks.

Hi there!

If you need to find differences between 2622 and 2656 builds I recommend checking Release Notes of every driver, there you can find what have been fixed or technical known issues.

If you own a laptop computer, it is recommended installing proper drivers for mobile systems and the latest graphics driver supported by Intel is version 8.15.10.2656, you will need to check with Microsoft for information about driver version 2696

Thanks.
