Recently bought x79 mbo from intel (DX79TO), using i7 3930k cpu.
On cd it comes with just link to intel support download for XTU (extreme tuning utility).
When I run it it opens a black window with XTU graphic and there it blocks. There is no task running
there is nothing but the black window with Intel XTU.
Our recommendation is downloading and installing the latest version of the Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel(R) XTU):
Hello! I have the same issue. It appears the service won't start, causing the app to hang. I tried this back in Feb with the older XTU, and again today with the April 2012 version. Both fail to load the service. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest XTU version. I have an Intel DX79SI MB and an i7 3820 CPU running Windows 7 X64 SP1. Below is the error in the Application Log for the XTU service:
Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: singletonInstance
at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHost..ctor(Object singletonInstance, Uri baseAddresses)
at XtuService.XtuService1.OnStart(String args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
Any help would be appreciated. I integrate these boards occasionally and the most recent one I did, the XTU worked on that other system, but I still can't get it to work on the office system here to demonstrate it. Thank you!
I have a DX79SI running the latest BIOS (0525) and I cannot get XTU to start. When I try to open the software, it stops at the XTU black splash screen. Also, the perftune service continually takes up more and more memory. The only way I can get the program to close is to halt the perftune service that is running. I have tried downloading the latest version of XTU and I have also uninstalled my norton AV in case it was blocking a service from starting to no avail. I am assuming that the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility Service should start when I try to open the software but it will not start. I cannot start it manually either. It is set to automatic start in service manager.
Not sure what the problem is, but I wish Intel could provide some input on what to try.
I've managed to get it working by re-installing Windows and installing the XTU straight away after drivers. It's got to be a compatility issue/conflict with another piece of software. One thing you could try is to boot in safe mode and see if it will work then. Let me know how you get on !
Incase its a hardware issue here's my spec:
Intel i7 3770K @ 4.2GHz (Intel Watercooler)
Intel DZ77GA-70K (Gasper) Motherboard
16GB (4x4GB) Kingston Hyper-X 2133Mhz
EVGA GTX680 SC Signature 2 (2GB)
Intel 330 Series 120GB SSD
Seagate 320GB HDD
Same issues here, still awaiting a resolution. The program did work for me previously, so yes, I know re-installing my whole system would probably fix this. I know it is not a hardware issue. I suspect it is conflicting or broken by one of the other system monitoring programs.
Same issue with a DH67BL mobo (it does run on this for other people, and it seems the extreme series mobo requirement was dropped in 3.0)
same event in the application log, latest version published 8/16/12 doesnt fix the issue (version 3.2.xx.x)
I've chatted with an intel rep and pointed them at this thread. hopefully it will get some attention now
I reinstalled my OS from scratch to fix the problem, but interestingly, after reinstalling most of my system monitoring software Intel XTU remains functional. One of the differences between my old installation and my new one is that I updated my BIOS during the previous iteration of my computer. I am wondering if any of you who are having problems have updated your BIOS after installing Intel XTU. Just suggesting a possibility....
I have this same problem, the software refuses to load.I have installed the latest available version.
I just spoke to one of the tech support on chat and he says the DX79TO does not support the extreme tuning utility.
I have Extreme tuning utility mentioned on the motherboard box as well as the CD that came with it.
They are just pushing the error onto users by saying the utility is not supported on this board.
I have run this utility for a month and it ran well.I did the stress tests for cpu and memory.
I believe that one of of the BIOS caused this error.
I am using version 0537
PLEASE RECTIFY THIS ERROR INTEL. I LIKE THIS UTILITY AND HAVE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THE EXTREME BOARD.
