    Can I upgrade Centrino Wireless-N 1030 with Centrino Wireless-N 6230

On HP Laptop, can I upgrade Centrino Wireless-N 1030 with Centrino Wireless-N 6230?

I would like to replace existing card with dual-band wireless N card 5ghz.  6230 looks perfect but I wasn't sure if it needed different antennas or different slot.

          Hello brunjest,

We do recommend you to contact directly the laptop manufacturer for this kind of exchange/replacement; this is because the laptop manufacturer must comply with strict FCC and IEEE regulations in regards to this hardware, so they usually would have their system blocked for unauthorized hardware installations, this is also why we cannot recommend, encourage nor support the installation/or upgrade of wireless adapters performed by anyone but the laptop manufacturer.

Physically both these adapters use the same miniPCIe slot and are equally long, the antennas we would not be able to tell specifically, but usually they are the same.
