I am not getting as fast a connection as I should. The Time Warner Tech support had me go into the Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connections. Under the Tab Link Speed it is set at Auto Detect and the link status is set to 100 Mbps/Full Duplex with the green light lit. If I change it to Auto-Negotiate 1000Mbps,which is the only way to set 1000, it disconnects the connection and says I have a cable disconnected or I have a bad cable. Well we know that is not true, as it works at the 100Mbps setting. I tried a driver update as he suggested, but it still shows this same problem. Anyone else had this problem, if so what did you do to fix it?
I am running XP on a Intel MOBO D945P, NetGear 600 router and a UBEE non wifi modem
The PRO/1000 PL uses the same base driver discussed in this thread: http://communities.intel.com/thread/24367
Until a newer driver package is available, you can try reverting to 16.3: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18807&keyword=16.3&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng
