    D525MW + 3ware 8006-2lp = no boot device found.

    pip

      Hello.

I recently purchased D525MW motherboard, supplied it with 2x SATA drives and 3ware 8006-2lp RAID card. I setup raid 1 configuration, 3ware raid shows up in bios and is set up as first in boot priority. I also installed Ubuntu 10.04 Linux on raid 1 with no problem.

After system is installed and i try to reboot into the system i get the message: no boot device found press any key to reboot the machine

I played with bios settings by disabling everything but Hard Drive in Power section but no luck. Same message every time.

Please advice how to load the system.

      Thank you.

          pip

So i upgraded bios version from 0083 (initially motherboard came with this version) to 0098 (latest). 3ware shows up in bios again but no change:

no boot device found press any key to reboot the machine

          Any help?

          thank you.

64 bit os seems to the a problem.

I believe it likes 32 bit.

I have the same problem with another Astaro 525 Router.

I had tried a work around by installing a 64bit Windows Server r2 OS on it so I can update the Linux firmware using windows which i know. a major PITA.

In Windows OS it see the card 3ware 8006-2LP driver/card but does not see any raid....... at all but at least I can get in to Windows OS.

            I can't say that for Linux...it's DOA..."no harddrives."

            Error Message: Bug at HWDB.c:506

This means that it does not see a configured harddrive.

3ware now LSI had a very old obsolete firmware dated 2004.

Since I have the same problem unsolved currently I cannot confirm this is the problem 64 bit.

But being old fw its a good bet.
