The older Intel processors fatured 32- and 64-bit (double) precision floating point operations. In addition there were extended double precision 80-bit floating point operations. For my FFT application I am finding that 64-bit FP does not have quite enough precision. Is 80-bit extended double precision floating point available on the Core i7 family, perhaps for compatibility purposes? Specifically on the Intel Core i7-3930K hardware?
If so, how do I access it through Intel or other Fortran or C?
