Can a trial certificate from Verisign be used for Remot Provisioning?

I want to give remote provisioning a try and want to use a trial certificate from Verisign. After receiving the cert I notice that the thurmprint hash does not look viald accorning to the following located in the Out of Band documentation from Altiris.  I've followed the documentation located in this link and we are receiving all errors in the log file stating "Hash list does not contain Root Certificate hash. PKI Provisioning failed."  to me it looks like that is the cause but I've never used a trial cert before.
