We are running a distributed application on multiple SCC cores. One assumption of our application is that all participating machines (cores) have their clocked synced, otherwise, our synchronization protocol wouldn't work correctly. We have a script that runs on mcpc, and ssh into each core to set date (using the date command). It can only sync to the precision of seconds, probably not good enough for our application. We'd like the precision to be of ms.
We tried to build a customized linux with NTP (network time protocol), and tried loading it on marc006. Somehow it crashed on the cores and didn't load. Is there a way that we can keep the SCC cores' clocks in sync w/o having to use NTP?
