If your system meets the requirements, and you are able to get the software installed, then you will need to get the appropriate adapter as you stated in your post in order to connect to your television.

i have buy it last summer from dell web outlet as company refurbushed product.
As i check here
i meet the basic requipments
i do this steps
but when i instal the latest version it display error message to me that widi canot start
i try the version for Intel® 5 Series Mobile Chipset then is no error message..just the aplication disapear from screan when it starts.
I also try the older version Intel Wireless Display software update 18.104.22.168
where i get other error message wher (dont remember the name).dll file is missing
i have netgear adapter..and i really want to have this function...please help.......and sory for my english
From your description you may be missing the Intel® My Wifi Technology.dll. If this is the case then follow the steps below:
First download and install the latest wireless driver and software package from the link below:
You would download and install the Wireless_15.2.0_s32.exe for Windows* 7 32bit or the Wireless_15.2.0_s64.exe for Windows* 7 64bit.
If you had already installed that file and it still gives you the same error message then go ahead and reset the feature following these steps:
- Go to Start, Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a program
- Double-click on the Intel® PROSet Wireless Software
- This opens the “Install Shield Wizard” window
- Click on “Next” select “Change”
- Click on the drop-down menu left to “Intel® My WiFi Technology”
- Select the last option “X Entire feature will be unavailable”
- Click on “Next”, wait for the “Install Shield Wizard” to finish and click on “Finish”
- To reinstall the feature follow the steps from 1 to 5 then 9 and 10.
- Select the last option “Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive”
- Click on “Change”, wait for the “Install Shield Wizard” to finish and click on “Finish”
helloo nathalie...i am very greatful for your quick respons, thank you , i have done that as you say it resolve the problem now i start the application but when i try to conect to the widi display using the widi app it says ..
unable to send desktop to remote display
please try restarting the application if the problem persists please try reinstalling intel widi
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Inetl Wireless Display. I tried resetting my netgear box to the factory setting. I get passed the security code and then I get the same message. I also tried restting the application. At first it seems like it's going to work and then the "unable..." message reappears. Also, my scren shuts downs for a second twice when it tries to connect. I hope I can get this to work.
Also once or twice i get the message on my screan "could not obtain network address" on my TV screen , but no all the time..only at the beginning on my trys pls..help if you have antthing on your mind. i have the newest version of intel hd graphic and a newes driver for my network adapter i realy dont know what to do

The error messages you get now are related to security. These messages mean that there is some part that is blocking the connection.
This is usually related to your firewall(s). check the link below for settings in the Windows* firewall:
If you have another firewall you would need to check that one too, to troubleshoot the security issue it is usually the easiest if you disable the firewall(s) and anti-virus protection.

I read your compatibility link and I do have everything besides the Display Adapter. All my drivers are also updated, it looks to be just the Display Adapter. It's a great Display adapter, is this really the reason why I can't get WiDi? Is there a way for me to get WiDi?
I have a:
1. Windows 7 i7 M620
2. Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300AGN
3. NVidia NVS 3100M
I'm trying to install WiDi on my laptop in order to extend my laptop to a TV screen (I have a Netgear PTV3000 and found out after the fact that i need WiDi, WiDi is the only solution for it to work).
