I just took apart a old HP ZV5240 and the chip inside does not have any Intel markings or serial number. I used to sell Intel chips and every one OEM /Retail was always branded. Am i crazy to be skeptical. Since I know the broker market for this chips is does not surprise me that it could be fake but it came from HP? I do have a photo but I cannot upload it right now.

In order to properly identify your processor, please run the Intel® Processor Identification Utility.
You can download the Intel® Processor Identification Utility at:
http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/ http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/
Also the markings might be covered by the fan/heatsink or by the thermal interface material, so make sure there are nothing covering the markings in order to read the, but first run the Intel® Processor Identification Utility, it is easier that way.
