Pentium Dual-core versus 800 FSB Core 2 Duo?

The fastest Pentium Dual-core was the E5800 at 3200 MHz. The Core 2 Duo with FSB=800 MHz only went up to 2600 MHz (the E4700).

Both have 2 MiB of L2 cache. The PCD is a Penryn and the C2D is a Conroe. Is there any difference in performance?

To find the feature differences between both processors please check this link:

Keep in mind that Intel processors are designed for different market segments, for this reason Intel does not compare it's processors performance wise.

I would suggest contacting any third party benchmark company / magazine / website that might perform this type of comparison.

If you are looking for buying recommendations, I would suggest contacting any of our Authorized Intel® Distributors, so they can provide you assistance on this matter.
