Hello,
I have a self-built PC with
- an Intel Core i3-2125 processor with HD3000,
- an ASRock Z68 Extrem4 Gen3 mainboard, and
- Linux Ubuntu 11.10.
I've just moved from Windows to Linux.
Ubuntu system info says:
- Graphics: Unknown
- Graphics Driver: Unknown
- Graphics Experience: Standard
It seems that Ubuntu is running the Unity 3D GUI, because I can drag and drop in the Launcher.
How can I be sure that I can utilize the full power of HD3000?
If that's not yet the case, what do I need to do?
Thank you.

The last time I checked, the only way to benefit from HD-3000 is to return to Windows 7 and use the Intel drivers. As I recall, Intel does not support drivers for Linux.

Got advice to install the package xserver-xorg-video-intel. It's already part of Ubuntu 11.10.
The package description talks about the Intel i8xx and i9xx family of chipsets up to i965 series chips.
It does not mention the CPU-integrated HD2000 and HD3000 graphics.
So I'm not sure whether xserver-xorg-video-intel gets the most possible out of HD3000.
In doubt, probably not.

This appears to be as far as Intel goes.

Signed up to say I installed the driver from the site you (CarWiz) posted and it works fine.
I have an Intel HD 3000 by the way.
Just thought I'd post that! Take care!
