Using a non-Windows CA for SCCM

A customer's Certificate Authority server is a Solaris system. They are using SCCM SP1 on several Windows primary site servers, and want to start provisioning AMT clients. Is there a way to setup and request a web server certificate template from the Solaris server?

The Microsoft SCCM documentation says the CA should be a Windows Server running 2003 or 2008.

The customer is using Verisign for their certs.

Any ideas?

The only SCCM PKI infrastructure (any root, subordinate, policy, etc Certificate Authorities) configuration that is officially support by Microsoft is Microsoft Enterprise CA running on Enterprise Edition or on the Datacenter Edition of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008. Even if the customer is running a Microsoft sub-ordinate CA chained to a Solaris root-CA, this would be considered an unsupported configuration and would be done at the customer's own risk; which means if they have an issue with SCCM and OOB Management, Microsoft may deny them support them or request they meet the supported PKI configuration before they provide support.
