    D946GZIS usb problem

I started getting a "USB device not recognized" error. I removed all usb devices, I uninstalled the devices. In device manager all of the items in the usb catagory were removed and reinistalled. SFC /Scannow was run. I still get the error. I am guessing it is in the usb hardware on the motherboard. I was going to disable the usb and install a usb card but was unable to find a setting in the bios to do this. Is there another way to disable the usb on this board?

You should be able to disable all the USB controllers in device manager. You stated you had used device manager to uninstall the controllers, restarted and let Windows find the controllers and reinstall. Instead  of uninstalling just follow the proceduce you used, and instead of uninstall, choose disable.

If you are going to install a PCI USB card which would contain it's own controller and ports it shouldn't be necessary to disable the onboard controllers since they are not going to be used anyway.
