Issues with second monitor on Dell hybrid with 965 chipset

My second monitor will only work when the display adapter is disabled or I boot in safe mode. My driver is up-to-date. When connected directly to the computer, the second monitor behaves exactly the same as when I run two monitors through the dvi to dual vga splitter. With the display adapter enabled, my monitor displays D-Sub OUT OF RANGE, unless as previously stated, I disable the display adapter or boot safe mode.

When I open the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for mobile I only see Single Display with a radio button beneath with the word Monitor beside it. Below that it says:

Multiple Display

Note:

Two displays must be connected to the computer before you can use this feature. Please connect another display.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Does the 1280,0 play a significant part of this issue?
