Intel DP55KG Desktop Board BIOS Issue (Read: This particular issue has been going on for so long)

    ethernetic

      Hi,

I'd like to once again bring the following issue into attention:

      Issue: Defective BIOS (bug)

Issue Description: SATA channel flipped randomly on reboot, cold boot, (and/or) power cycle (full OFF to ON state on PSU/Power source)

      BIOS Version: KG5936P.BIO

      Example (SATA channels reference table):

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 1

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 2

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 1

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 2

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 1

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 2

On reboot, cold boot, or power cycle (as stated above), SATA channels will be flipped randomly.

Example (SATA channels PRE-SET by user based on Intel BIOS SATA attachments interface):

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 1 HDD A

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 2 HDD B

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 1 HDD C

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 2 HDD D

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 1 HDD E

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 2 HDD F

Example (SATA channels FLIPPED randomly, with absolutely no changes applied by user to SATA physical interface channel/cable connection.)

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 1 HDD B

      SATA 0 CHANNEL 2 HDD A

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 1 HDD C

      SATA 1 CHANNEL 2 HDD D

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 1 HDD F

      SATA 2 CHANNEL 2 HDD E

Notes: Sometimes, all channels will get flipped. Sometimes just a pair, or two. It's totally random.

Reading through the forum, I've taken note that Intel are working on this but it has been so long. I hope this will further explain the issue and I'd be glad to assist in any ways possible. I'm sure that most of us that has dumped about $200+ USD would love to see these kind of annoyances and bugs get ironed out.

      Thanks!
