Question on DQ67SW BIOS release note

    RP

This release note states that if the current BIOS version is 0050 or earlier, you must first update to version 0051 before Doing a BIOS recovery function. Are they saying you must install 0051 before you can install later versions under any method or just recovery with the jumper? Also, is the F7 method generally considered reliable. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Recovery is really only intended (as the name implies) for situations where a flash has been corrupted (eg a power failure during the flashing process). The F7 process is ideal for those not running supported Windows versions (eg Linux users).

The Express method is the quickest way because you can do it from within Windows with minimal fuss and you have clear progress indications along the way. Make sure you turn off/disable your anti-virus software and unplug any non-essential USB devices before you double click the exe file though otherwise you may find it goes through the motions and appears to update the BIOS but actually fails to do so and you end up keeping the current version (I've had that happen once but turning off the AV Software allowed it to work the second time around).
