MacBook Pro with a bricked 320 SSD

I have a MacBook Pro that's been running on a 160GB 320 SSD for about a month. It was on over night and when I woke up I found the computer had crashed. When I started the computer up the hard drive was not detected by the computer.

I have the computer running on a back up via a USB hard drive.

The system profiler shows the following for serial ATA devices

      Intel ICH7-M AHCI:

        Vendor:     Intel

        Product:     ICH7-M AHCI

        Speed:     1.5 Gigabit

        Description:     AHCI Version 1.10 Supported

Disk Utility does not show any drive at all.

Is this drive having the 8MB firmware issue?
