You should be asking this question on an Apple forum, not an Intel forum. Intel X25-M-series drives support TRIM; whether or not your OS implements it and chooses to discriminate based on drive model string (or whatever) is their choice. Again: you need to take this up with Apple, not here on the Intel forum. The drive you bought supports TRIM; if your OS advocated vendor lock-in (e.g. Apple-branded-only products), that's not the fault of the X25-M.
As for "what is TRIM, why do I want it?", take 20 minutes out of your day and read Wikipedia. Don't skim the article, read it. It answers your question.
