    H61 & Samsung F3

    Eyghon

Hi, I recently purchased the following for a Customer:

Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Antec High Current Gamer 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

      MSI H61M-E33 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard **B3 REVISION**

      Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)

      OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1333LV4GK)

Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case - Black

      LiteOn IHAS324-32 24x DVD±RW ReWriter SATA (Black)

When I built the system it was extremely unstable with BSD's etc, I ran some tests and Samsung ESTool failed Write Verify and RAM Verify tests with error code AJ41 when the HD was connected to Ports 1 or 2, it passed all tests when on ports 3 & 4, going on this I returned the MSi Mobo and due to OCUK not having any stock I obtained a refund and then ordered a Asus P8H61-L from Amazon.

I rebuilt the system and passed it on to the Customer but again it was extremely unstable with BSD's and Registry errors etc (Win 7 Home Prem 32bit). I ran the EStool and again the drive failed the same tests when on SATA Port 1 or 2 but passed fine on Ports 3 & 4 and in my main system (X58a-UD7).

It has been suggested on OCUK forum that the Samsung F3's have problems with H67/P67 and possibly H61 Chipsets. Can someone suggest any further tests or better still a solution?

      Regards

      Craig
