Smart Response Tech with existing HDD configured as SATA IDE.

I am in the process of upgrading my existing PC, and will be replacing my existing cpu/motherboard with a i5-2500k and a mootherboard with the z68 chipset.

I am keeping my existing 1TB HDD. This disk drive is currently configured as SATA IDE.

If I were to buy a SSD, I am wondering if it is possible / easy to use SRT with my existing HDD without requiring a wipe/reinstallation of everything on the existing HDD? My understanding is that SRT requires the HDD to be in a RAID setup, so is it even possible to convert from SATA IDE to RAID without reinstalling, or am I out of luck?

      Thanks!
