I am having the same issue on the Dell E6420! If anyone has an fox for this please post.
If this is the PCI Simple Communications Controller, try this:
Download this driver:
Open device manager
Right click on PCI Simple Communications Controller and select Uninstall
Right click on any device in the list and select Scan for hardware changes, your simple communications controller should pop back up
Right click on the simple communications controller device and select Update driver
Select No, not this time, for the first screen, then click Next
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), click next
Select Dont search, I will choose the driver to install, click next
Select Have Disk (even if Intel Management Engine Interface is listed)
Browse to the directory where you downloaded the file
There is a Drivers directory, open that directory
Open the MEI directory
The HECI.inf file should be listed in the File Name field at the bottom of the screen.
Click the Open button
Click OK on the Install From Disk dialog box
Click the Next button on the Hardware Wizard Update dialog box
You will get an "Update Driver Warning" message box. Read this message box carefully. Think about it a bit. Then, if you want to get rid of the annoying PCI Simple Communications Controller unknown device prompt, click the Yes button.
Intel Management Interface driver is installed
Look, no more PCI Simple Communications Controller unknown device prompt. Simple, and intuitive.
If you're pretty familiar with Windows, you probably don't need all of the detail in my instructions, but, I wanted to make it clear for less experienced users, too. Well I hope I succeded.
Have a lot of fun!
