Just an update, I have installed Windows 2008R2 Server (Home Machine) and not windows 7
I went to intel download centre and download the driver for Intel® 82579V Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mb/s) Ethernet LAN controller "PROWinx64" it still gives me error saying no intel nics are found
where as on Windows 7 64 BIT it is installing the driver (not automatically during install) but had to install drivers off the Disc which came with the MOBO.
I have same problem, anybody help!
Do you see the NIC in device manager??

Same problems here.
I was able to solve it by manually selecting the 82579LM network adapter as a driver.
With Windows 7, the setup finds the corrent network adapter. With Windows Server 2008 R2, no cards were found and I have to use the workaround from above.
Maybe Intel can fix this issue?
The Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection was never tested with or certified for server operating systems, which is why you can not automatically find a driver when using Windows Server 2008 R2. With Windows 7, a driver is detected, because the network connection was qualified for Windows 7. There are no plans for Windows Server drivers for the Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection.
Can you please post the workaround and the driver (as a zip file) you used to configure it, the drivers I download ProWin7x64 and extracted them, selected "Update Drivers in Device manager on the NIC" and searched the appropriate location, it still won't find the drivers.
Will be grateful if you could post the exact driver version you used to get this going !
Thank you so much for giving a hope !
The 82579LM driver is included with windows - just update the driver from device manager and click "select from drivers already on my computer" and select Intel as vendor and 82579LM the adapter. Works great.
One last thing - you have to try to install the driver from intel and have it fail before the drivers you need will show up in the "already on my computer" list.
Great your Idea saves me . thanks a lot.
