Wondering if anyone can answer this. I am wanting to set up a three drive system on a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R board (with ICH10R). What I would like to do would be to have a Flash SSD for the System / OS, and then a RAID 1 for other Apps / Data. So:
1 x SSD = Non-RAID, used for System / OS
2 x HD = RAID 1, used for apps / data
Can the X58 chipset, with ICH10R run this sort of combination of drives with some in a RAID configuation and some not in a RAID configuration?
Thanks - Eric
You can come close enough. Set up the single SSD as a one-drive RAID 0, and the other two HDs as RAID 1. Although the SSD will still be handled by the RAID controller, it should read/write at normal speed.
