    Hard disk extension?

    nikman

I want to extend my hard drive.

I currently have a 40GB Hard drive attached to my PC.

      I just wanna know:

Upto how much can I extend my hard drive? OR

Upto how much memory does my processor support?(by memory, I do not mean RAM)

The specifications of my PC are as follows:

      Processor :- Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV/E Processor to I/O Controller - 2560

      Display adapter :-  Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller

Actually I'm thinking of buying a new 500GB hard drive.

But I doubt that "will my processor accept it?"

      Thank you!

You are in luck.  The processor (and display adapter) don't care how big the hard drives are.

However - your motherboard does have a limitation on how big of a hard drive you can attach.

Do you know what kind of motherboard is in the system?

Do you know what kind of motherboard is in the system?

No sir, can you please tell me how to know which kind of motherboard i have?

            are there any commands?

OR else i have to open the box and look inside?

            regards,

            nik

Sometimes it tells you during POST, those first screens you see when you turn the computer on.

Was it built by a local company, or is it a prebuilt system from HP, or Dell, or someone?
