Intel Matrix Storage Controller Question

I've got an old whitebox I've inherited and have what appears to be a failing hard drive.

It has the Intel 82801GR/GH Sata raid controller.

There are two drives, Raid 1, and one of them keeps reporting a smart event, we're going to replace it.

Is it ok to hot swap the drives, from what I can find it looks to be hot swappable but just want to make sure we dont have any surprises and I've not used the intel raid controllers in any of my servers before.
