Gents, i have 2008 R2 installed on a Supermicro X7DVL with the following:
- Intel® 5000V (Blackford VS) chipset
- MCH + ESB2
I installed Intel RST (first time user ... i remember when it was called intel matrix storage manager) and .NET 4.0 to support it. However i only get the following error when starting either Intel RST or Intel Control Center.
Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: IAStorUI.exe Application Version: 10.1.0.1008 Application Timestamp: 4cd508b4 Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdbdf Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 0000b727 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.272.7 Locale ID: 1033 This a pre SP1 2008 R2, UAC is off, and no difference if right click and run as admin. Anyone experience this as well?- Tags:

YES - funny thing is I have it working on 3 other units - identical (but of course I must be missing something).
It installs fine, won't run. I've uninstalled, reloaded, rebooted, tearing hair out.

I figured it out. The units I have working, I installed the driver and converted to RAID after the OS load...
In this post, /message/119863# 119863 http://communities.intel.com/message/119863# 119863 people say 2008 R2 is not supported yet.
And yet it worked. But doing it properly (installing driver at load time) made it not work... Help!?!?

Fixed it! I did this before and forgot so I had to learn it all over again...
You need the .net 3.51 FEATURE - even though it will INSTALL with .net 4 (which is supposed to be backwards compatible right?) it apparently won't RUN with only v 4.

Install the feature - no need to even reboot - boom it works.
Thanks!

bingo ... that did the trick. installed .net 3.5 SP1 from features menu and it works. thanks for the tip !
as a side note, installing .net 3.5 SP1 from the installer pack off microsoft site generated a message to install it in roles menu (i am sure they mean features menu) ... installing from features generates a message it needs IIS to function correctly along with another feature .. possibly why .net 4 does not work ? IIS dependency built into RST?

Adding the feature, .net 3.51, fixed the issue for me too. Thanks!
