As the title suggests:
DX58SO board + BIOS version 5529 + Windows 7 x64 SP1 installed on SSD
After installing Intel RST 10.1.0.1008 driver Windows hangs after reboot.
Only hard reboot helps, and it is not possible to enter Windows unless you do a System Restore or revert to a Last Known Good configuration.
I am currently using default Windows 7 drivers (version 188.8.131.525) which are quite old.
What I tried so far:
1. I have installed SP1 onto an existing Windows 7 installation residing on Kingston SSDNow V+, and then tried to install Intel RST.
2. I have installed Windows 7 with built-in SP1 (original Microsoft image) onto new blank OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, and tried again to install Intel RST.
Both installations led me to unusable Windows which hangs during boot.
In case anyone has the same problem the culprit seems to be a regression in Intel RST driver -- it will not load Windows if you have Pioneer SATA DVD attached to the ICH10R port. With older driver versions there is no such problem.
