Can the Marvell SATA 6Gb/s Interface Be Used for OS/Boot Drives?

This question came up on the forum of an ASUS mother board.  I don't own an Intel mother board that has the Marvell 9128 chipset SATA 6Gb/s (aka SATA 3) although I know some Intel mother boards have that interface available.

The answer that I am looking for is basically a simple yes or no: Does the BIOS on Intel mother boards that have the Marvel SATA 6Gb/s interface available, allow the user to configure the PC to boot from a drive connected to that interface?

On the ASUS mother board in question, which also has the Intel ICH10R SATA 3Gb/s interface, the BIOS has separate display and configuration options for the two SATA interfaces, and the two are never combined.  In the boot order configuration option, only the drives connected to the ICH10R interface are listed.

It seems on this ASUS mother board, that it is not possible to set drives connected to the Marvell interface as boot drives.  I am wondering if that is possible on Intel mother boards.
