D975XBX2K2 using Raid 0 BIOS upgrade

I have a D975XBX2K2 based system that is presently booting from the Raid 0 hard drives ...  I need to update my BIOS ... (having some difficulties that Intel's BIOS upgrade info says will be fixed by an upgrade).  But I have heard stories of how a motherboard BIOS upgrade can wipe out the RAID configuration taking you back to default essentially requiring a reinstall since the RAID hardrives are rendered unreadable (or so I am told)...I am all backed up, have my software discs and my keys and license info all accumulated and I am psychologically ready for the risk but I was wondering if anyone knows of anything I can do before the BIOS upgrade to assure the Raid configuration is not affected.
