How can I identify the physical SATA port for a drive?

Please, if this is the wrong community to post this to, can someone suggest a better one.  Somebody at Intel knows how to do this!

The Intel Rapid Storage Technology program displays the port that each  SATA drive is connected to.  I need to obtain this information -  preferably from the handle to a \\.\PhysicalDrive  I have AHCI enabled in the motherboard BIOS,  and the latest Intel drivers, so is there an IOCTL command (and a data  structure for the returned data) to obtain the port number?

I use C++  with VS2008 and am compiling for Windows XP (SP3).

IOCTL_STORAGE_QUERY_PROPERTY does NOT provide the information as far as I can see.
