I saw this being reviewed in a German Hardware magazine for gamers against the new 2nd generation processors. I had not realized Intel offered something larger than the 980 extreme. I would like to know more about this processor. I found nothing on the Intel site. All help appreciated.

Thank you Robert Gifford,
I will contact the writer or the magazine to see what gives. What caught my attention was the 3.46 ghz which was the same as the Pentium Extreme II in 2004. Made me think Intel is just recycling the old Pentium engineering on smaller wafer nanos and stacking chips server style to make it look new? I was so hoping this 990x was an answer to newer engineering and not the step backwards to the 'new generation I7' being offered to meet a price point--Celeron anyone?

Well I did some googling and I did see some stuff about a I-7 990 and a I-7 995X , On a X58 platform , but with the Sandybridge already out I don't think I'd drop a grand on one of these unless I had $$$$$ to burn??
