I am considering buying a new laptop with USB 3.0, but recently became aware of the development of Light Peak. My question is whether I should hold off on my purchase until I know that Light Peak is either available in laptops, or if I go through with my purchase will a laptop adapter card be developed that will fully utilize Light Peak's capabilities. From what I've read so far, some of this is still in development, so any answers might be speculative. If this is the case, I'll probably hold off on my purchase. Also, from what I've read, if an adapter card is developed, the card slot would need to support 16x speed to fully utilize Light Peak's capabilities. Common sense tells me I should probably hold off until there's more specific information about Light Peak or until laptops are developed with Light Peak already built into the system, but if an adapter card would accomplish the same thing, then I think I'd go through with my purchase. Thanks to all who respond.
