drakunov,

Here's the http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-030213.htm Test Processor List for the S5520SC. You see that the L5640 is listed there, but the S5520SC requires BIOS 45 minimum to boot with an Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series installed.

If you don't have BIOS 45 or later, the only option is to temporarily install a 5500 series processor and update to the latest BIOS.

On thing of note though, your CPU World link indicates the processor to be 80 Watts. The L5640 is a 60 Watt processor.

Regards,

John

Dear John!

Thank you for answer.

i have updated bios to the latest version , but no luck with getting my CPU to work.

I know about that page but there no any word abou non production CPUs, my seems to be A0 revision.

it have same characteristics like L5640, power info maybe incorrect or higher becausue of early release of CPU

It works very fine on Asus Z8NA-D6C, but this board have very bad design & have few ext connectors.

Production (or even Beta) L5640 will work as John S has stated

Q3NC Alpha engineering sample processors will not. The code to operaterate non-released processor is not in the BIOS.

No luck with 46 version of BIOS (

CPU is not identified as ES by the provided PID utility (http://downloadmirror.intel.com/7838/eng/pidenu26.msi http://downloadmirror.intel.com/7838/eng/pidenu26.msi)

i have uploaded details of the CPU

BIOS 47 did not get release do to issues found in validation testing which were corrected and rolled to BIOS # 48

Only Internal test BIOS versions had the code to run the very early power-on A-0 westmere pre-release sample processors.

You will need to get production processors to operate a S5520SC mother board as A0 are not considered reliable for production systems.

That will be my home desktop, so i not need high level of reliability. They work just fine on other motherboard, all ok with performace & stability tests.

Seems very sad to trash Intell motherboard (

Having run some of the early qualification testing on those A-0 ES processors, All I can say is what ever your using to test stability, is not very stress full.

So please recommend adequate stress test.

Or please help me to get this internal bios. That is only what i am looking for, as stated in my first question.
