re boards manual and configuration jumpers
I removed the jumper and the computer runs non stop but no beeb and no boot and no setup menu
if i put the jumper on pins 1-2 or 2-3 and i get the stop start behaviour
What is your PSU?
Also what happens if you remove all teh RAM and the GPU? do you get any beeps? if so how many?
ram is patriot viper and is tested with 58 chip I removed 2 stics and left one in
re If I take the bios jumper off the machine runs but does not boot
if I put jumper in 1-2 or 2-3
it stops and starts
psu is shaw brand 850 wattss
gpu ??? is monitor
GPU is the graphics cards.
So what happens if you remove the memory and the graphics card? what beeps do you get?
took out all memory no beeps
patriot memory has been tested with 58 chipset but was it intels ?
will only run non stop if I leave jumper off
if I put jumper in 1-2 or 2-3 it stops and starts
only have box
have plugged in a usb mouse and keyboard ??? if it doesn;t feel those it cuts out ???????
will not start and install keyboard
some guys use wow 6 ?????????
grahics card is MSI R4670
will try to get it out of slot cannot get it out of slot
have Ikoniks case the outer slot has a plate over the card whcih I cannot get up
have intel ssd ned windows 7
I bought a boot cd that is supposed to boot everything does not work here
?????? bios chip ???
I bought board in USA and local intel will not RMA
Have you checked your heatsink to make sure it is fully seated?
(10 seconds is about right for a thermal shutdown if the heat sink is not in contact with the CPU)
If you want to troubleshoot the board correctly, you are going to have to take the motherboard ourt of teh case i am afraid. set it up on a test becnh or a box or something, and just plug in teh CPU, CPU fan and powersupply, NOTHING else, and then turn it on and see what happens.
Doc has a good point too..
the fan is screwed down tite
I need a new bios chip
I need to extract my bios chip and replace it
yes reseated everything to make sure cmos problem
i thought it mite have been the cheap psu
i bought a psu tester and plugged it in and all the lights when on
I think that tmeans its ok
I bought a bios chip extractor which is like 2 claws
and can get a new chip I hope from the Netherlands
I will then have to programm the chip ?????????
dfi lanparty have a secure bioprogrammer for doing this but I cannaot get one
I am going to replace the intel cpu fan to rule out thermal problems
the intel fan is not very good anyway
in dfi manuals they recommend using a fan that has a plate under the mainboard to screw the fan legs it into it
A couple of things:
You do not specify your patriot memory? Model is important, for example the DX58SO supports no memory < 1.5 or > 1.65 volts with the newer BIOS revisions.
Are all three DIMMs the same make and revision?
Have you tested the Patriot Memory on a known good system? Patriot Value line has a 10%+ DOA rate.
Did you update the BIOS before failure? You are saying you think it is a BIOS issue but if you did not update right be fore failure it is unlikely to be bad.
If it is bad have you tried the emergency recovery methods? Replacing the BIOS chip is usually the last step.
