i need help! whats the difference between the QX6850 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=30789 and the QX9650 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33921 ?? if their both lga775 then why does my mother board not list it as compatable???
i have an asus P5N32-E
QX9650 has more cache and FSB Parity. Ethier could cause issue with the mother board's BIOS.
You would have to ask Asus if their BIOS will support the Qx9650. (or just giver it a try as see if it works)
Please check this link to determine the differences between both processors:
I would recommend contacting the motherboard manufacturer for them to provide you a list of fully supported processors for your motherboard, keep in mind that the fact that both processors are based on socket 775 does not mean that the motherboard will support both processors.
These 2 processors are based on different technology (QX6850 = 65 nm, QX9650 = 45 nm (Newer Technology)), so the motherboard might not support one of those.
