    DP55WG - error in product specification ??

    HannesH

      Hi,

i want to buy the Intel Mainboard DP55WG, therefore i have read the specification:

      http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18132/eng/DP55WG_TechProdSpec.pdf

      Page 45 "2.2.2.2  Add-in Card Connectors":

      "PCI Express 2.0 x4:  one PCI Express 2.0 x4 connector (implemented using a x4
physical connector capable of accepting a x16 card).  The x4 interface supports
simultaneous transfer speeds up to 500 MB/s of peak bandwidth per direction and
up to 4 GB/s concurrent bandwidth."

      is that correct???

      I think the transfer speed is up to 2 GB/s (peak bandwidth), because of PCI Express 2.0 x4 (500 MB/s per Lane -> 500 x 4 = 2000)...

      or have I overlooked something?

      THX.

          Hello,

This is how i understand the information:

The PCIe 2.0's per-lane throughput is 500 MB/s. This means a 4-lane PCI connector (x4) can support throughput up to 2 GB/s aggregate.

          All the best,

          Kind Regards,

          Aryan.

hmmmm, but for the x16 and x8 port there is written:

            •  PCI Express 2.0 x16:  one PCI Express 2.0 x16 connector supporting simultaneous
transfer speeds up to 8 GB/s of peak bandwidth per direction and up to 16 GB/s
            concurrent bandwidth.

            •  PCI Express 2.0 x8:  one PCI Express 2.0 x 8 connector supporting simultaneous
transfer speeds up to 4 GB/s of peak bandwidth per direction and up to 8 GB/s
            concurrent bandwidth.

and this is conform to the pci-e 2.0 definition...
