965 resolution

I am running a 965 Express chipset, GMA X3100, in a Lenovo R61 using paired external monitors, ea 1280X1024, with a Matrox Dualhead2go with XP Pro. The driver is dated 2007.

Would like to upgrade to Win7 but have been unable to get better than 1900X700 on the external monitor pair.

I have updated the bios, run the Lenovo update, downloaded their latest Win7 driver, downloaded a Win7 driver from here (win7_1512754.exe) and tried the Vista driver from Lenovo.

Am I missing something, or is this a limitation with this machine?

Don't think its the machine. Coud be the monitors?

The color display uses TFT technology:

Resolution:

– LCD: Up to 1400-by-900, depending on the model

– External monitor: Up to 2048-by-1536

Size: 15.4-inch widescreen

Resolution:

– LCD: Up to 1680-by-1050, depending on the model

– External monitor: Up to 2048-by-1536

They work fine on XP Pro as effectively a 2560X1024 external monitor, is why I am suspecting limitations on the Win7 driver
