    CPU Fan Runs Constantly at Full Speed -- DH57JG + Core i3 540 + PNY 2x2Gb + Ubuntu 10.10

I built my first HTPC with the following specs:
      Motherboard: DH57JG

      Processor: Core i3 540 with stock heatsink/fan

      Memory: PNY 2x2Gb MD4096KD3-1600-X8 RT

      OS: Ubuntu 10.10

Eventually, the CPU fan ramps up to full speed and stays at that speed until I shutdown.

Is this normal behavior?  Could the system not be properly monitoring CPU/Motherboard temperatures and correctly regulating fan speed?  How do I go about determining if this is normal behavior or if I have a problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.
