VT virtualisation option disappeared from BIOS after CPU upgrade

I had an Intel E8200 Core 2 Duo CPU in a DQ35MP motherboard with BIOS rev JOQ3510J.86A.1126.2009.1124.2311 and had enabled virtualisation and could happily run VirtualBox VMs with 2CPUs.  I decided to upgrade the CPU to an Intel Q9505 Quad Core.

After the upgrade, I have the following symptoms

      - the VirtualBox VMs will not let me see more than 1 CPU

      - I have 4 CPUs in task manager

      - The MS download havdetectiontool.exe says the machine does not have hardware assisted virtualisation

      - There is no VT enable/diable option in the BIOS on the Security page

See the BIOS pics below.  Any ideas on how to get this working again or what's gone wrong?

I think I set the Intel ME password, but have forgotten what I set.  Could this be a reason why the VT options have gone after upgrade?
