Hi i recently bought a quadcore q8400 processor and installed it in my pc,
since i have done so the pc fails to load windows or go past the post screen and when i looked into why i found the cpu was on about 92 degrees celcius... i have had a core 2 before and replaced the heatsink that came with the cpu for a much more powerful zalman on.
(see http://www.zalman.co.kr/Eng/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=378 for the specific zalman product and details)
There is a correct ammount of thermal paste spread evenly between the processor and the heatsink. so my question is my processor broken? should i send it back and ask for a replacement? or is there any way of trying to remedy the issue?
thanks

Sorry, I'm not familiar with your board. Perhaps you can find the answer to your problem in the the board manufacturer's website.

thanks for all the replies i found the problem was in the bios in the end and i fixed it by loading an experimental bios on and fiddling with the vtt until i achieved stability.
The bios can be found here incase anyone else requires it.
