I recently upgraded my Sony laptop to Windows 7. After updating I decided to reupdate all of my drivers. During this process I tried to upgrade my Intel graphics using Windows Update. During the update I recieved a BSOD (Black Screen of Death). I turned off my laptop, booted into safe mode, and immediatly rolled back the graphics driver. I then looked all over the web for solutions to this problem. I tried using Intel's website and Driver update tools and recieved the exact same result. I tried visiting Sony support only to find that they had no updated drivers for the GMA. I have no idea what else that I can do. Is there any solutions to my problem? Or will I have to deal with an outdated driver and no GMA?
Based on the fact that you are getting BSOD when updating to the latest graphics drivers, it indicates that your system only allows drivers directly from your computer manufacturer, not the generic Intel drivers.
You can try installing drivers manually or through have disk method
