Hi,

We are planning to use this server for storing MySQL database for our game and website (which runs phpBB forums and several other modules). We won't be hosting Apache or php web content itself on this server for now. Though later on during peak load, we can consider using this server as our load balance client and it can host php content or at least static content.

Somewhere I read that performance of Core i7 - 860 is almost equal to 4x Intel Xeon MP 7040 and higher than 2 x Intel Xeon 5150/5000P . So that means Core i7 is much better than Xeon ? But internet search shows posts from forums which suggests Xeon is specially built for servers and better. So thats little confusing.

So please suggest technically which option is much better for above mentioned requirements. Looking forward for your reply.

Regards,

Praveen
