I have an Alienware Aurora desktop (i7 920). I tried using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (v.184.108.40.206) to AutoTune my settings. When I ran AutoTune, it select markedly worse settings and restarted my computer to apply those settings. When my machine boots up to the desktop, the "PerfMonGui.exe -startup" executable associated with the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility asks if it can run. If I select "Yes," it attempts to complete applying the settings and locks up my machine. If I select "No," I can go to the desktop and continue working as normal.
I no longer want this application attempting to complete its job as it will freeze my machine. I've already disabled the Service within 'msconfig.' However, I no longer want it pestering me at Startup.
Is my only option to uninstall the application at this point or is there something else I can do?
Also, if I uninstall the application, is there a risk that I will have a further problem.
