Life of SSD and what happen when it hits TBW

I have been doing quite a bit of research about SSD drives in the enterprise. I have some larger 16 drive arrays that I am using for virtualization. The question has come up do the Intel drives do anything to let me know they have reached the TBW number. I am running 50 VMs on the array and since there are multiple VMs the actual usage is very variable. I don't see anything happening for a few years but I also know budgets and they will not replace the drive until they have to.

Do the SSD drives go into read only mode, provide a warning that they are reaching the limit or nothing?
