I received an interesting question from a client regarding the floating point architecture of the 7450 series multi-core CPU. The question from my customer is:
Do the Xeon 7450 CPUs installed in the servers use a shared floating point processor for the cores or does each core have a dedicated floating point processor?"
I found some information in the data sheet for this processor, but nothing that seems to definitively address this. Anyone able to help me answer this?
I confirm all cores are independent, so they have their own set of floating point stages.
