I used to have a DG33TL motherboard which run linux without any problems. The rdtsc instruction worked fine -- the kernel never reported any stability issues, so I could use it as a great way of measuring how fast routines are.
Now I upgraded to a DG45ID motherboard for a faster GPU (same memory, same CPU). Now I get:
Marking TSC unstable due to TSC halts in idle
While booting linux. Now I'd really like to be able to use rdtsc. Is there anything I can do prevent this from happening?
Also, how bad is this?
The CPU is a Q6600 and I have 8 GiB of RAM. Problems seem to ocur on all kernel versions I tried.
