I can compare the NUC8i5BEH here directly with other devices.
I have two Dell notebooks standing here (also with a U-processor)
and a ZOTAC-ZBOX MI (older model) with an i5-7400T. These devices are more silent. To make the fan of the NUC audible you don't need a full load.
When I fix the fan at full speed (I made this just of interest to hear how loud the NUC can get), it sounds almost like my Dyson vacuum cleaner.
